Known collectively as Los Cabos, the twin resort destinations of Cabo
San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are some of the largest resorts in
Mexico. Los Cabos is actually divided into three distinct areas. The
first is San Jose del Cabo. San Jose del Cabo is a beautiful city full of
lush tropical palm groves and quaint meandering streets. This town
has retained the look and feel of a colonial village. The San Jose del
Cabo of today is a town of some 30,000 residents, featuring a fabulous
Municipal Palace, charming restaurants with private courtyards,
boutiques, shops and a wonderful tropical estuary. Compared to the
bigger and more touristy Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo is a bit
more laid back.
The second part of Los Cabos is Cabo San Lucas itself. This quaint
town features wonderful restaurants, some of the finest shopping
anywhere and a beautiful 300-slip marina with full services. In
addition, Cabo San Lucas features a very active nightlife, with a
wonderful selection of clubs and bars. In addition to these diversions,
Cabo San Lucas is a top spot for divers and fisherman. Cabo San
Lucas offers some excellent opportunities for deep see fishing and
diving. The waters around Cabo San Lucas teem with marine life, and
whether you want to hook that prize marlin or explore some of the
most beautiful coral formations anywhere, Cabo San Lucas is your
destination.
The third part of Los Cabos is known simply as the corridor region.
This region consists of a 29 kilometer long stretch of beach. It is this
strip of beach that is home to most of the new resort development in
the area.

The corridor region of Los Cabos is also home to some of the most
beautiful golf courses in Mexico. Recent years have seen the opening
of some wonderful golf courses in the area. These courses are
designed to take full advantage of the scenic beauty of the land to
create a striking setting for an afternoon round of golf.
Part of the Cabo San Lucas area is Medano Beach. This treasure is a
beautiful stretch of azure blue water bordered by white sand beaches.
Just off the shore line of Medano Beach lies El Arco. El Arco is one of
the signature landmarks of Cabo San Lucas, and one of the most
beautiful natural landmarks anywhere in the world.
The Cabo San Lucas area is attracting a wider range of visitors than
ever before. Everyone from honeymooners to families with children in
tow will find something to love about Cabo San Lucas. The range of
outdoor and indoor activities offer something for everyone. Cabo San
Lucas is rightly famous for its sport fishing. Visitors come from around
the world to take advantage of some of the best sailfish and marlin
fishing anywhere in the world. Surfing and windsurfing is also some of
the best in the world. In addition, Cabo San Lucas is always on the
cutting edge of water sports, and the local shops are stocked with the
latest and greatest gadgets for water sports enthusiasts.

In many ways, the resorts of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo
have a more American feel than other Mexican resorts. This is due to
the location of Los Cabos. The area is somewhat isolated from the rest
of Mexico, and as a result it was American companies that built much
of the area. More than other resorts in Mexico, Los Cabos features
many American products in its markets, and American dollars are the
preferred currency in most shops. You will also recognize familiar
American names in many places around town.
Despite the American influence, however, Cabo San Lucas and San
Jose del Cabo have retained their distinctively Mexican flair. The
Mexican influence is everywhere, and the blend of American and
Mexican cultures provides a charming atmosphere for visitors. Cabo
San Lucas is one of the best places for your Mexican vacation.
